The HFW Companies (HFW) continues to grow and expand its national network of architecture and engineering (AE) firms, lifting HFW this year to No. 169 in Engineering News Record’s (ENR’s) latest prestigious annual ranking of the top 500 architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms in the U.S.
In ENR’s 2026 ranking, released last week, HFW continued to climb in rank, this year rising 34 spots to No. 169. That’s 112 spots higher than its debut ranking of No. 281 in 2023, thanks to combined total revenue this past year of $117.4 million. General building projects, according to the ENR report, drove 82 percent of that revenue, followed by water supply projects at 11 percent; transportation at five percent; and telecom projects at two percent.
HFW, a professional services company founded in 2020, continues to build what its leaders consider a premier, best-in-class, national network of AE companies. Its role, according to Michael Hein, AIA, chief executive officer of HFW, is to amplify the collective expertise of its network and provide the operations platform and other resources needed to create greater long-term value for HFW, its network firms, employees, clients, investors, and the communities it serves.
HFW and its network of AE firms are celebrating the latest ranking.
“We debuted at No. 281 in 2023 and continue to ascend,” Hein said of the company’s growth. “ Advancing this significantly demonstrates the strength of our platform and reflects the hard work and commitment we’ve all made to grow this company. This higher ranking testifies to the strength of our model, operating platform, and all the firms that comprise The HFW Companies.”
